What were your initial thoughts on distance learning before you started your program?
Why did you choose distance
learning over a traditional face-to-face learning environment? In what ways has your view
of distance learning changed since you started your classes?

Where can I take an easy distance learning course in British Literature?
I need to complete 3 credits in British Lit. I would like to take it via a distance learning program that operates at the student’s pace, preferably by mail. Sadly, at this time I am more interested in earning the 3 credits than receiving a great education. I’m looking for something similar to KU’s program: http://www.kuce.org/is/ Thank you very much for any help!

Where to find an affordable, primarily distance learning graphic design degree?
I live in Eastern NC and would like to work toward getting a degree in graphic design. I already have a bachelor’s in marketing, which hasn’t done much for me, and have a passion for the art of design.
Are there any schools in the area that offer programs in design that would allow me to take either distance learning courses or mainly night and weekend courses (because I work a M-F, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. job). The more affordable, the better. Thanks!

I need Advice regarding my personal morality, and future education?
My grandma had a heart attack…
and now my Uncle is proposing that I go to C.O.D(local community college) and live with my grandma
so i can take care of her for two years.
Shes not only a widow, but her boyfriend recently died as well. in other words, shes lonely.
(she lives in close by in a nice little country club)
If i turn down this offer, Im selfish.
Ive already gotten myself into college; and I thought I had avoided prolonging my stay here entirely.
Ive earned good grades.
If i take this offer;
Im potentially changing the course of my life.
but it means a nice,free living environment,and a car.
If heaven for bid, something should happen to her in the course of the 2 years…where does that put me?
Would living with a 18 year old benefit her condition at all?
Am i even allowed to live in a retirement center????!..
lend me your thoughts.

Best way to undertake a distance learning degree?
I’m interested in doing an undergraduate degree in Physics, but I would like to do it self-study, as I have work commitments full time study isn’t an option. How long is it likely to take distance learning? How often would I have to travel to the accrediting university to take exams? How much would it cost.
Can anyone link me to any reputable universities that offer distance learning. I’m not bothered what country it is in so long as it is a country with well-regulated universities (such as UK, Australia, USA, etc).
Thanks

Why have illegal Aliens failed to make a success of Mexico and expect to be supported by US taxpayers?
Illegal Mexican come to the US and want free education, free medical, pay no property taxes and send all their Ben Franklins back to ole Mececo. Why cannot we have an illegal Alien tax collected by our cities and lift some of the burden off legal citizens. In Texas our county hospitals and public schools are filled with illegal Mexicans paid by the US taxpayer.

He said he will pull out of Iraq. Ok. But then he said he wants to expand the military even more. What are they going to do? Is he increasing so that he can give more a free education?
I have no problem with the free education our soldiers receive. That is your pay for being available. What I mean is: if people dont want war, why would we expand the military? Don’t worry I support the armed forces.

Why education in USA is sooo expensive?
I want to study in USA and I’m looking for a public university; I understand that private colleges are expensive, but why also the public ones are *so* expensive? I mean education should be free for everyone.
The lowest tuitions fee that i have seen for IN-STATE students is $2000. That’s absurd! For international students like me is worst! $6000 or more…

Study for Masters in IT by distance learning in which university?
I want to study for a Masters degree in IT/computer science ideally by distance learning. Currently I hold a B.Sc in IT from the University of Malta. I would like to know if there are any good (accredited) universities that allow me to further my studies in IT. There is Sheffield Hallam University and Liverpool but apparently some threads criticize these universities as they are not ranked well, they are relatively new, etc. I want to find a reputable and flexible university. I am also really messed up whether I should quit my current job and go for full time in a university abroad. Can anyone help me please as I am really confused? Thanks in advance for your assistance.
M.Sc. in Computer Science with an accredited university. Ideally I need to carry out the whole degree programme via distance learning. Is there any highly ranked university preferably in the UK that allows this?

What do you think are some options for better immigration policy?
This should make everyone think, whether you are Democrat, Republican or Independent. After all of our tax dollars go to free medical, free education, free food, day care etc., etc., the cheap labor they provide (main pro-argument I keep hearing) is NOT cheap! It is costing Americans more than money to keep allowing this to go on.

Is there anyone that will give you unbiased career advice?
I am a college graduate that is planning on furthering my education even more. I am not sure if I should go the MBA route, or specialize in a certain field such as marketing or PR. I know it depends on what I really want to do, but I am totally open to whatever will give me the best opportunities in the future. Anytime you talk to an adviser who is affiliated with a certain college or program, I feel like they’re just trying to sell their program instead of guiding me towards what is best for me.

Does anyone have any advice on how to start a prayer circle?
People keep on blathering on and on about Palin instead of worrying about how a raise in taxes is going to hurt the people like me who are already paying as much as we can afford, and about why education is failing in Illinois, Obama’s own town, and the fact that Illinois is the 49th state in Education, and I just wondered if we can pray that we vote McCain so we don’t get a more corrupt senator into the highest office? International Education with current economy crisis, still worth it?
I have my BFA in Fine Arts and am looking at several art universities abroad for my Postgrad. After months of research and analyzing what’s right for me, this is the MFA program and experience I want but, with the current economic crisis, am I really shooting myself in the foot? Is this a totally ridiculous thing to consider, going international? Or getting a Masters period? I’d just like some advice from those who are particularly more in tune with the economic crisis right now and what might happen down the road. Thanks!

Students who refuse to do any work. (Need advice from teachers and maybe some students too)?
I am currently working as a class within a class teacher for special education in a middle school and I have noticed that many of the students COULD do their work and do very well but they just refuse to do anything. I see some of the same students all day long but in differnt classes and all day long all they do is put their heads down and sleep and refuse to do anything. These kids are not mentally retard, they have learning disabilities and many have behavior problems but if I could just get them to do their work, I really feel like they could be sucessful. Any advice?
I don’t think it’s that they are not being challenged enough. These are kids with learning disabilties and they are really low. The work is on their level. They just won’t do it. We’ve tried rewarding kids for doing their work and punishing kids for not doing their work, sending kids to the office, calling home, writing them up, just ignoring them when they sleep, etc.
I don’t know what else to do. A lot of the other teachers allow it beause they don’t want to fuss with it or bother the other students but I just can’t let these kids fail. And they are failing because they simply won’t work.

How much higher do you want your taxes to go for more war?
They will have to go up someday to pay what we already owe and it seems a lot of Americans want to attack several new countries as well as keep up hundreds of new military bases in countries all over the world. Many want to continue “star wars programs” that will cost trillions.
How much higher can Americans go? Or what do we give up? Some Republicans want to give up a free education like a lot of 3rd world countries…
What else should we give up to pay for all these weapons and bases and wars?

What does anyone think of this idea to solve the problem of prison overpopulation?
This idea was actually offered by Dinah on another question that I asked. She suggests purchasing a large peice of land, barracading it off so that no one can escape, building housing on it and sending every prisoner in the country there. (Separating the sexes) There would be no laws or law enforcement. They would be free to do whatever to whoever.
That’s her idea, but I wouldn’t send a slight offender there, only the bad ones.
I think it would be hell on earth and we’d have people thinking twice before they commit crimes unlike nowadays, when they get taken care of, they get better medical benefits than most of us get and free education and recreational activities in prison. It would also cut down on our costs of supporting them and guarding them.
To Lauri K - that was the idea, to let them fend for themselves. All we tax payers would pay for was the land or island as some suggested.
To Shaka - Wow, that’s really drastic! Does anyone remember what soylent green was? It was an old Charleton Heston movie where there was no more food in the world so everyone ate this green stuff and he broke into the factory and found out it was made from people’s dead body’s.

What Should I Do To Become A Commercial Pilot For Southwest Airlines?
I am currently 13 years old and want to have a career in commercial airline transportation. I would like to know what I should do to prepare for the career like Highschool classes I should take. I know you don’t have to go to college just flight school , but I would like to know of a good college course to take because employers look for the better qualified person. I DO NOT WANT TO JOIN THE MILITARY AND GET A FREE EDUCATION THROUGH THEM. There is nothing wrong with the airforce, but with a war going on I don’t want to risk it. Also what is the price range that it will be costing me? I have been looking around and it looks like $60 grand for flight school.
Please help me decide. =Þ

How to solve difficult problems? Any Advice or reference?
I am really frustrated. I study biotechnology, I’m really interested in it. But there is a lot of chemistry and physics. I love the subjects, BUT the problem is:
I only can solve direct problems, or difficult problems that I’ve seen the solution to before. I think this is because my school education wasn’t based on stimulating my mind, but now I really want to be good at what I do and to reach to the level of the other students when it comes to difficult scientific problem solving.
So any advise or reference will be highly appreciated.
Thanks.

Canadian immigration currently favors, ‘skilled applicants who can bring a unique skill or expertise to the nation.’ In other words, Canada will be more likely to accept immigrants with valuable skills or good education. Canada is less likely to accept an immigrant who cannot prove they have something specific to offer their new nation.

What do you think about the US Education system in light of this?
The results of a National Geographic Education Foundation survey of US adults between the ages of 18 and 24 were recently reported in Education Week (May 10, 2006; www.edweek.org). A few “interesting” findings…
60% of respondents could not identify Iraq on a map of the Middle East;
75% could not locate Indonesia, and most did not know that Indonesia is predominantly a Muslim nation;
Less than six months after Katrina, 33% could not locate Louisiana on a map;
65% could not locate the United Kingdom on a map
Only 25% identified Chinese Mandarin as the most widely spoken lang uage in the world.
And, most telling…
While 60% of respondents viewed use of computers and the Internet “absolutely necessary” in today’s world, only 33% thought it absolutely necessary to know where other countries are located.

How would you like to change the world?
If you had a chance to change something about the world, what would it be and why?
Me, I would like to see everybody receive a good education. I don’t it’s right that people have to suffer their wholes lives when education can open new doors for them. If everybody had a chance to receive a free education of a good caliber, the world would be a much better place.

What is the common denominator between Free trade, war fare, border security, and healthcare/education?
The proponents of globalization and so called “free” trade love to trade with China causes it increases profits..we all know this. Now we find out that China is committing to building a fleet of aircraft carriers as they are richer now from the business our government and free traders have given to them. But there is another aspect to this that is not as readily apparent. Now that Communist China will have more weapons, guess who will be clamoring for more weapons to keep a step ahead of them. Bingo ! you got it, the very same people who were proponents of trading with the chinese regime and making them rich. Say hello to a new arms race, and more profits for free traders and the military industrial complex. And why do the very same people clamor to give weapons and cash to people who just months ago were killing our soldiers in Iraq? Bingo !!
Notice how convenient how it works out that the very same people who benefit from the problem tend to help create it? (see Iraq Fiasco)
See trade with China, See Illegal immigration, the record budget and trade deficits, see high oil prices. All these problems faced by our country are related and part of the same general scam being perpetrated on americans. Cause a problem and then propose solutions to fight the problem which are not really solutions at all but rather a “morphing” and a continuation of the same old same old.

Atheists: if you were the ruler of your community, would you take steps to reduce religion?
If so, what kind of steps? Free education? Higher taxes for religious organizations? How about rules establishing religious organizations as strictly non-profit? Or would you just give your people the freedom to work out their society on their own and form mob-like religions if they choose to do so?

I’m interested in starting my own education consulting firm which specializes in assisting families who have children with special needs. I live in the Hampton Roads area of Virginia (on the eastern peninsula). I want to apply for grant money to help parents who can’t afford such a service but I need to start with people who can and are willing and seeking adivice from an experienced special educator. I want to start writing any tips or advice?
Ya I want to start writing. I’ve been writing since I was 7 I wrote a journal of short stories mainly of kid stuff like space and stuff, but my dad found the book and threw it away saying I can’t write. I later when I was 9 started writing songs about ambition and stuff and hid them all around my room so he couldn’t find them. He abandoned me when I was 13 so it was safer to write I wrote a chapter book, and a bunch of poems. 5 which have been published, and a bunch that are in a book around 20 but I probably won’t publish them because I was in a depression at the time I wrote them. Any tips though? If i do finally write another novel or chapter book and it gets published about how much will it cost to send in to publish? I have about 3 different novels in my head right now that I want to start, but I’m just to busy to start writing again, it’s my senior year in high school. If I want to be an author what kind of education should I move onto for college?

How irresponsible are we as a nation that we want everything paid for us?
Free Health Care
Free Education
Free Mortgages
And our kids will pay
and their kids will pay
and so on and so on
What a gluttonous little poke of piglets we are. Grow up people “ain’t nothing come for free”…..NOTHING!

Any advice for an INTJ still in secondary education?
Mm, that would be me…I tested as an INTJ on multiple Myers-Briggs personality tests online…I also looked into the characteristics, and I match mostly all of them. Basically, how can I effectively deal with people and still maintain sanity?
It’s just a personality type? I’m not going to a psychologist to test my personality type…just curious as to what other INTJs use as coping skills…lately I’ve been letting my mind wander into biomagnetic theories or some basic quantum theory…occassionally I come up with some neat anagrams. lol.

Do you believe that having children is a privilege and not a human right?
I was listening to some older (well dressed) ladies during my lunch break and they were discussing how the poor should not be allowed to have children since the majority of them can not afford to provide for them. They were saying that the poor are basically a burden and they were tired of being taxed in order to provide the poor with a free education in public school and a free college education. They said the poor (in general) do badly in school because they do not appreciate what they have gotten for free and not earned. That’s why public schools are so shameful. They said the poor were a bad investment since the cost and effort it takes to educate the mass is far higher than the return, of a few exceptional students. The two older ladies said that they should not have to support state and community colleges since they thought the people who are educated there are no better than ‘trained monkeys’. What are your thoughts?
I thought they were much more than just arrogant..

I have created a Communication Passport for my Special Needs Kids. Need Advice?
I have two kids with Global Developmental Delay. My eldest attends a Special Needs school and loves it. My youngest is attending mainstream nursery and loving it too. They need lots of one-to-one care and get it through education, physio and speech therapy.
I created a Communitcation Passport for them both and had great fun doing it. If anyone needs ideas or help, just let me know. I know its a bit daunting to start the whole process, but they are brilliant things to have. My son was in Hospital last week and it came in handy for the nurses to read and get to know him when I wasn’t there.
Help needed? I’m here to give advice.

Why is there so much class envy in our Country?
We have come to the point in this nation where we believe distribution of wealth is acceptable. We do not have a caste system. Everyone in this country is entitled to a free education and many to a free higher education. We all have the opportunity to succeed. We all choose our paths, therefore we are all RESPONSIBLE for our own successes and failures. You are NOT entitled to someone else’s hard work!!!! This is what helped bring us to the financial brink we now face. To become healthy again, we as nation must overcome class envy.

My education and work experience has increased, why hasn’t my salary?
I want a job that pays more. Who doesn’t right? My education and work experience have increased by my salary has not. Why is this?
I have BA in English/Education and MA in English/Writing. I have 4 years of work experience in educational administration ranging from administrative assistant to program coordinator at various institutions. I took a year and a half off to go back to school. Now with a Master’s degree, I am still making the same salary I made when I had a BA degree. Is it the education industry? Can I apply my knowledge and skills in a different industry that would put me in a higher salary bracket? Also, I do not want to teach. I would appreciate any advice you can give. Thank you.

Why should I give away my knowledge for free?
This is more of a theoretical question than a reflection of how I personally feel.
My education over a lifetime has cost close to a million dollars (and counting), from preschool to graduate school. Granted, I didn’t pay for it all myself…but what I’m getting at here is that if education is so ridiculously expensive, what is the benefit of distributing that knowledge to others for free?
This is the question of the 21st century, I think. And totally worth 5 points.
I emphasize that this is not how I personally feel, as I freely share my knowledge on Yahoo! Answers and in my daily life.
It is a question for the sake of provoking thought and *intelligent* discussion.

Get Finances For Your Children’s Education
Imagine the day when your child was born.
I’m sure you would be on cloud nine with family and friends wishing you on the new arrival.
It would have been the most memorable moment in your life, am I right?
How many nights you would have stayed awake to ensure your child gets a sound sleep?
For the happiness to stay, you ought to be responsible, especially education even though the costs have now increased.
Is it not your duty to provide them with all the basic needs?
As a parent, it is your responsibility to give the education they wish to study.
You definitely have to think about your financial position especially if your children are in college or will be going to college very shortly.
As a student years back, you would have been sitting cooly and your parents would have run around to get you a seat in the college.
Is this picture coming before your eyes now?
It’s now your turn to ensure that your child gets admission in the best college.
To get an admission in a college, you will have to shell out money for the application, records, scholastic assessment of test papers, etc., plus boarding and lodging if he/she is going to study in a college that is far off.
Are you worried that it is not possible to meet out these expenses with the salary that you get?
Yes…your child can get financial aid for further studies.
Do a simple search over the Internet and you will be able to find one very easily.
What you do no next is, simply go and visit the main office of the college or university and inquire about various scholarships and financial aids that they offer.
You will have to go in person and submit FAFSA (Free Application Form Student Aid).
Abhishek is a Career Counselor and he has got some great Scholarship Secrets up his sleeves!

Why do peeps from asia/europ come to USA for college, when the colleges in their home?
countries are just as good or better?
also, why would anyone from europe come to usa to study when in most countries college is virtually free?
Why do people think that money grows on trees in USA? I am not naive, nor a racist, and I have travelled out of usa (not everywhere though).
Most westernzed countries have exact same opportunities as USA, often better, with state healthcare and free education.
So whats the point of coming to usa to study?

Free Math Homework Help
When having problems in math, what may be needed is a review of previous math.
Many online websites offer free help for homework problems in math.
Help for homework problems can be found on many web sites.
Before more advanced subjects in math can be taken, the rules and formulas in basic math must be understood.
Learning multiplication usually involves learning the multiplication table, especially for the numbers that multiply to one hundred.
It is very important to know fractions since they have wide application in the world and not just in learning math.
Fractions and decimals can represent the same number although the notation is different.
When doing algebra, kids often have trouble with factoring and expanding polynomials.
Even before this, however, the mathematical idea of variables has to be understood.
Meanwhile, in trigonometry, they might have trouble with the trigonometry functions such as sine, cosine, tangent, secant, cosecant, and cotangent.
The many formulas and terms used in algebra and trigonometry are important for taking higher math courses such as precalculus and calculus in addition to probability and statistics.
Along with the definition of a derivative, special rules have to be learned that rely on understanding rules from previous math.
Integrals are more complicated than derivatives because they sometimes require setting up a problem to fit a particular rule.
Unlike derivatives, there might not be a solution unless numerical methods are used.

On taught courses, postgraduate tutors and lecturers will provide the framework of the course and, within this, you will be able to pursue your own interests.
On research programmes, the principal teaching method is original research, which you complete under academic supervision.
As with undergraduate degrees, UK institutions also provide excellent English language support for international students.
UK immigration permission is granted only for study in UK colleges and universities which are listed on the Register of Education and Training Providers.
Siddharth Gupta of Global Opportunities (consultant for study in UK and other countries) has written several articles on study in UK colleges.

How do you think the economy, which in all intensive purposes, refers to the budget crisis in CA,?
will effect community corrections? Will it or will not have a drastic impact on it?
When you compare the public sentiment on public funding of other issues, socialized medicine for everyone, free education, additional increases in welfare expenditures, there is not much left in the public pocket book for community corrections. Interestingly enough, crime and punishment does not seem to be a major concern of our presidential candidates.

What can I do about my education?
I go to a ‘low-grade’ school——meaning they are barely able to teach the core curriculum subjects. The school I went to before was really challenging, an they wanted to let me skip 2 grades. My problem is, is that I feel as if I am losing my intelligence by being at this low-class school. I fear that I’ll be unprepared for college, and it scares me. I know if I was challenged I could learn faster.
I have a teacher here who says ” Don’ let school interfere with your education.” This is good advice, except that if I go to the library, I can’t learn. Nothing there has been updated since the 70-80’s. (No I am not kidding) I can’t transfer schools, so I am stuck..
Can someone offer me some advice?
Another added problem is the fact, if the Oklahoma Board of Education were to investigate the duties of our counseler and some of the teachers——more than likely they’d be fired on the spot. Our counselor is lazy and hasn’t been filing our ‘records’ correctly. (Student and Teachers records. The ones were if a teacher gets written up, they disappear.) Yes, I have actually walked into her office while she’s done this. (She hastily tried to cover it up.)

A Guide To Education Loans
In order to solve this problem, there are a number of education loans available for graduate as well as undergraduate students.
These loans provide all financial support to the students, so that they are able to complete their education without any constraints.
The Federal Stafford loans and Federal Parent Plus loans are the most common ones, preferred by the students and parents.
Federal Stafford loans are granted directly to both graduate as well as undergraduate students, whereas Federal Parent Plus loans are granted to the parents of only undergraduate students.
The interest on Federal Stafford loans is paid by the federal government, including the interest during the grace period, before the beginning of repayment.
On the other hand, the borrowers are responsible for the interest to be paid on Parent Plus loans.
Education loans are a real boon for students with weak financial backgrounds.
It is advisable that students and parents must take complete advantage of the education loans available and the various options and facilities available.
Education Loans provides detailed information on Education Loans, Government Education Loans, Private Education Loans, Higher Education Loans and more.
Education Loans is affiliated with Consolidate College Loans.

Any advice for how can I get a clinic job as a nurse right out of college?
I already have a degree in education and have great experiences in teaching so I think that would help me to teach my patients as well. Do any of you (nurses in particular) have advise for me as how I can get into a clinic or public nurse setting without having to work in a hospital first? Is it possible? How can I spruce up my resume to get an employer’s attention.
Thanks!

What can I do if my primary education appeal has been refused?
I have children at 2 different schools, until 2 weeks ago they were both at the same school. Then a place became available at the school I want them both to be at for just one of the children, everyone I spoke to (including the head at the school we are moving from) thought we would get a place for the other child, on the basis that having 2 primary school children at different schools just isn’t feasible long term. I have just discovered our appeal was refused on the grounds that the class is full. Can anyone offer me any advice on what to do next? Please?

Which is better , moving out with friends and working and paying for school or free schooling in the Navy ?
There are pros and cons for both , with moving out with friends it would be a lot more fun but a little harder working full time and going to school you really have to priotize , on the other hand you have navy , money , free education and experience , the only thing is less freedom and you really dont know what to expect in the four years , it could be really good or really bad , in the four years you cant really get out , any advice from people who have lived in both of these worlds ?? thanks

Why doesn’t government provide free health care, housing, transportation and education?
If I were given everything I needed, I would gladly give my all to the government. Wouldn’t you? Why aren’t we taxed 100%, then provided for 100%? This seems to make perfect sense to me, honestly.
.
Hillary in 2008: If healthcare should be provided for us by the government…EVERYTHING should be. Either the government is a provider, or it’s not. Let’s be consistent, ok?
Freefall: Why do you doubt the aboility of the government to properly reward diligence? Just like private employers do, so can government.
dcargia@: throw any labels you like, girl. Stick with the issue! I want the government to be my provider, 100%. Tell me why it’s not practical.

Where is the best place to turn to find good financial advice regarding my family’s retirement?
I am 43 and my daughter is 4. I am starting late on saving for retirement and would like to set aside money for my daughter’s education. I am considering hiring a CFA to set up some accounts to accomplish both these goals. Aside from liking the CFA’s approach, I have little knowledge of his background and track record. Is there a good way to approach the situation and sift through the over abundance of funds and options available? I hope to retire in about 20 years and send my daughter to four years of college. Is there any hope of accomplishing these goals, with little set aside so far?

Should we give free abortions and a $100 Wal Mart gift card to welfare women?
$100 and a free abortion will be much cheaper than the 18 years of food stamps, public education and eventual incarceration that most welfare baby’s cost American tax payers.

Why are immigrants able do come here dirt poor with no education speaking no English and lift themselves out?
of poverty? Yet we have people in America who have been here for generations and have been given free educations yet are still poor. Do you think these people are genetically inferior? Do you think they are capable of surviving on their own? Should we just get rid of welfare and let Darwinism go to work?
