How to solve difficult problems? Any Advice or reference?
I am really frustrated. I study biotechnology, I’m really interested in it. But there is a lot of chemistry and physics. I love the subjects, BUT the problem is:
I only can solve direct problems, or difficult problems that I’ve seen the solution to before. I think this is because my school education wasn’t based on stimulating my mind, but now I really want to be good at what I do and to reach to the level of the other students when it comes to difficult scientific problem solving.
So any advise or reference will be highly appreciated.
Thanks.

Canadian immigration currently favors, ‘skilled applicants who can bring a unique skill or expertise to the nation.’ In other words, Canada will be more likely to accept immigrants with valuable skills or good education. Canada is less likely to accept an immigrant who cannot prove they have something specific to offer their new nation.

What do you think about the US Education system in light of this?
The results of a National Geographic Education Foundation survey of US adults between the ages of 18 and 24 were recently reported in Education Week (May 10, 2006; www.edweek.org). A few “interesting” findings…
60% of respondents could not identify Iraq on a map of the Middle East;
75% could not locate Indonesia, and most did not know that Indonesia is predominantly a Muslim nation;
Less than six months after Katrina, 33% could not locate Louisiana on a map;
65% could not locate the United Kingdom on a map
Only 25% identified Chinese Mandarin as the most widely spoken lang uage in the world.
And, most telling…
While 60% of respondents viewed use of computers and the Internet “absolutely necessary” in today’s world, only 33% thought it absolutely necessary to know where other countries are located.

How would you like to change the world?
If you had a chance to change something about the world, what would it be and why?
Me, I would like to see everybody receive a good education. I don’t it’s right that people have to suffer their wholes lives when education can open new doors for them. If everybody had a chance to receive a free education of a good caliber, the world would be a much better place.

What is the common denominator between Free trade, war fare, border security,and healthcare/education?
The proponents of globalization and so called “free” trade love to trade with China causes it increases profits..we all know this. Now we find out that China is committing to building a fleet of aircraft carriers as they are richer now from the business our government and free traders have given to them. But there is another aspect to this that is not as readily apparent. Now that Communist China will have more weapons, guess who will be clamoring for more weapons to keep a step ahead of them. Bingo ! you got it, the very same people who were proponents of trading with the chinese regime and making them rich. Say hello to a new arms race, and more profits for free traders and the military industrial complex. And why do the very same people clamor to give weapons and cash to people who just months ago were killing our soldiers in Iraq? Bingo !!
Notice how convenient how it works out that the very same people who benefit from the problem tend to help create it? (see Iraq Fiasco)
See trade with China, See Illegal immigration, the record budget and trade deficits, see high oil prices. All these problems faced by our country are related and part of the same general scam being perpetrated on americans. Cause a problem and then propose solutions to fight the problem which are not really solutions at all but rather a “morphing” and a continuation of the same old same old.

Atheists: if you were the ruler of your community, would you take steps to reduce religion?
If so, what kind of steps? Free education? Higher taxes for religious organizations? How about rules establishing religious organizations as strictly non-profit? Or would you just give your people the freedom to work out their society on their own and form mob-like religions if they choose to do so?

How many of you would pay money for advice from a Special Ed. Consultant or tutor?
I’m interested in starting my own education consulting firm which specializes in assisting families who have children with special needs. I live in the Hampton Roads area of Virginia (on the eastern peninsula). I want to apply for grant money to help parents who can’t afford such a service but I need to start with people who can and are willing and seeking adivice from an experienced special educator. Is there is a good market for such a business? Also, how much do people in similar fields charge? what do I need to consider?

Distance learning is booming everywhere, to avoid any problems related to quality of learning and identity of learners there must be some set of regulations and bylaws to govern licensing and accrediting certificates and degree granted by this type of learning, I would like to know if there are such anywhere in the world?

I want to start writing any tips or advice?
Ya I want to start writing. I’ve been writing since I was 7 I wrote a journal of short stories mainly of kid stuff like space and stuff, but my dad found the book and threw it away saying I can’t write. I later when I was 9 started writing songs about ambition and stuff and hid them all around my room so he couldn’t find them. He abandoned me when I was 13 so it was safer to write I wrote a chapter book, and a bunch of poems. 5 which have been published, and a bunch that are in a book around 20 but I probably won’t publish them because I was in a depression at the time I wrote them. Any tips though? If i do finally write another novel or chapter book and it gets published about how much will it cost to send in to publish? I have about 3 different novels in my head right now that I want to start, but I’m just to busy to start writing again, it’s my senior year in high school. If I want to be an author what kind of education should I move onto for college?

However, I need all the suggestions, advice, and guidance you can possibly give me. Finances are very tight, and I want to complete my B.S. and then proceed to professional studies hoping to get accepted into law school and business school (J.D./M.B.A.). How irresponsible are we as a nation that we want everything paid for us?
Free Health Care
Free Education
Free Mortgages
And our kids will pay
and their kids will pay
and so on and so on
What a gluttonous little poke of piglets we are. Grow up people “ain’t nothing come for free”…..NOTHING!
Somewhere someone is going to pay the price

Any advice for an INTJ still in secondary education?
Mm, that would be me…I tested as an INTJ on multiple Myers-Briggs personality tests online…I also looked into the characteristics, and I match mostly all of them. Basically, how can I effectively deal with people and still maintain sanity?
It’s just a personality type? I’m not going to a psychologist to test my personality type…just curious as to what other INTJs use as coping skills…lately I’ve been letting my mind wander into biomagnetic theories or some basic quantum theory…occassionally I come up with some neat anagrams. lol.

Do you think distance learning will cut the need for teachers?
Or do you think web cam teaching/distance learning will be used to supplement education?

Do you believe that having children is a privilege and not a human right?
I was listening to some older (well dressed) ladies during my lunch break and they were discussing how the poor should not be allowed to have children since the majority of them can not afford to provide for them. They were saying that the poor are basically a burden and they were tired of being taxed in order to provide the poor with a free education in public school and a free college education. They said the poor (in general) do badly in school because they do not appreciate what they have gotten for free and not earned. That’s why public schools are so shameful. They said the poor were a bad investment since the cost and effort it takes to educate the mass is far higher than the return, of a few exceptional students. The two older ladies said that they should not have to support state and community colleges since they thought the people who are educated there are no better than ‘trained monkeys’. What are your thoughts?
I thought they were much more than just arrogant..

What are good or accredited online programs/distance learning for desktop publishing?
I’m interested in starting my own business but don’t have time to go to school in person. I’m looking for a certificate program or just individual courses/classes that are good for individuals interested in learning desktop publishing, creative programs like adobe illustrator/photoshop, etc. My options: online/distance learning classes available online or individual courses at a local school or center in Long Island….Any ideas??
